Estonian-Swedish Mental Health and Suicidology Institute (ERSI)

The Estonian-Swedish Mental Health and Suicidology Institute is headed by Professor Airi Värnik.

ERSI was established in 1993 and collaborates closely with the Karolinska Institute (NASP). Since 2001, ERSI has been an active member of the Estonian Centre of Behavioural and Health Sciences research group. ERSI has been registered as a R&D organisation at the Ministry of Education and Research since 2004.

Within the Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs on ”Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Research and Prevention”, ERSI has a pivotal role. We have broad collaborative contacts and are involved in several thematic EC funded projects (WE-STAY, SEYLE, OSPI-Europe, T-MHP, MHPHands).

ERSIs Role in SUPREME

Our main responsibilities are mapping of existing suicide preventive resources on the web in Estonia and the implementation and evaluation of the intervention website in Estonia.
